Why is a website important?

26/07/2022

It’s 2022, and if you’re a business owner who still shirks at the idea of having a website, then it’s time to change that mindset. When you consider the fact that over a quarter of the world’s population shop online (Oberlo), developing your own website should be an absolute no-brainer!

But there are many other reasons as to why your company should forget it’s outdated ways and develop a website, those of which we will be looking at below:

1. A website improves your company’s credibility

Think about it, when was the last time you searched for a company online only to find out they didn’t have a website? If you have experienced this rather strange modern phenomenon then you will probably be aware of just how important it is to have a website.

Because, after all, if a potential customer goes searching for your website only to find absolutely nada, they will probably assume your company doesn’t actually exist. Or, if they continue to believe that you do actually have a company, they will no doubt find it very strange that you haven’t put in the effort to make a decent website and pass on your business.

2. They increase brand awareness

You want your brand to be out there, right? You want the masses of potential customers to be able to look towards what you have to offer and say, ‘yep, that’s the company I’m going with!’.

Well, one of the very best ways to increase your brand awareness is through creating a trusted website. Sure, you can still have that banner strewn across some suburban golf course fence, but will that have the same reach as an easily accessible, fully navigable website? Of course it won’t…

3. They generate leads & create more business

Any business owner who wants to truly capitalise on their venture should use any means available to create more business. Look, we’re not judging you if you are content with where your business is at and have no further intentions of growth, but if you are a business owner who wants to reach grand heights then perhaps you need to ditch the old ways and enter what was already an important lead generator some 20 years ago!

Therefore, it’s absolutely imperative that you have a website that can generate as many leads as possible. Given that search engine optimisation, the process enlisted to boost your website’s search engine viewability, produces a 14.6% close rate (as opposed to traditional methods’ 1.7% close rate) (Hubspot) then it is easy to see how websites generate more leads and create far more business than that expensive billboard that’s only seen by people who find themselves in that part of town!

4. They create customer rapport

Given that most adult Australians do some form of online shopping - if not at least online searching - it’s a given that websites, along with other forms of digital marketing, create a far greater customer rapport.

This leads back to a website providing your business with heightened credibility: if your customers know that you have a solid, well-designed website with easy navigability then they will be far more likely to want to enlist your services than, say, if you’re holding onto that well-outdated Yellow Pages advert…

5. They improve the customer experience

Your customers want to find a place where they can easily enlist your services without any holdups. After all, people are busy, and so companies should make their product as accessible as possible and without the customer having to wait hours for a reply.

This is where websites come in. Say, for example, you can’t make it to the phone to answer a potential customer’s business inquiry. Instead, your website can be on-hand to provide them with a list of FAQs that will answer their questions and ensure they have the knowledge to make the right purchase decision.

This improved customer experience will not only make it easy for the customer to buy from you, but it will also increase your credibility in the future and have customer coming back to you whenever they require your service.

6. It’s central to your digital marketing campaign

At the end of the day, the world is switching digital when it comes to shopping and enlisting tangible services. You cannot continue to ignore the profound wealth of opportunity provided by this now-behemoth service and how it can take your business to new heights of success.

If you have been holding off on enlisting a comprehensive digital marketing campaign with a fully-designed website, it’s really time to make the change - you have an untapped well of potential awaiting at your fingertips, so why wait any longer?
